The Wounded Garden

A surreal reflection on wild femininity, sacred rage and the entanglement of women, nature and power.

The Wounded Garden is a series of mixed media collages exploring feminine power through ecofeminist ideas, mythology and symbolism. The work centres on an early interpretation of the Sacred Mother, not as a passive, nurturing figure but as a force capable of anger, protection and transformation.

Drawing together women, flora, animals and hybrid forms, the collages blur the boundaries between body and landscape. Eyes, teeth, flowers and botanical motifs recur throughout the series, suggesting both vulnerability and resistance. Symbols such as the evil eye and sharp teeth become protective devices, reclaiming imagery often associated with fear or monstrosity.

Created through layered digital processes, The Wounded Garden marks an important stage in the development of my practice. The series introduced themes of feminine presence, ecological relationships and symbolic worldbuilding that continue to evolve through my installation and sculptural work.
